Personal Information

Stan has been involved in various phases of finance for more than 35 years, both as a lawyer and as a financial planning professional.  His clients look to him for advice to assist them in making informed decisions about accumulating and allocating assets and helping them to reduce unnecessary estate taxes.  By working with executives, professionals and business owners, he has been able to focus on developing strategies to cope with the current economic and taxation landscape that these clients face.  The growth of referrals attests to the value that clients and attorneys place on these approaches.

Stan earned his Bachelors in Business Administration in finance from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor degree from the George Washington University School of Law.  He has also obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ certification.

Early in his career, Stan served as a civil and criminal litigation attorney in the District of Columbia and the federal court system on behalf of the DC Attorney General’s office and private clients.

After the private practice of law, he worked with The Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Association (Freddie Mac).  He has extensive experience with advanced financial investments having developed many instruments which are well known in the financial world such as the mortgage-backed security and collateralized mortgage obligations.

In addition he has taught graduate level courses in finance and law at prestigious business schools and universities in France and been the featured speaker at national law conventions on retirement and estate strategies for lawyers. He has also appeared on NPR’s Marketplace program. He is a member of the board of MPT Foundation, Inc. and chairs its investment committee.  He also serves on the investment committee of the Associated Jewish Charities of Maryland.

Stan was an Army Reserve JAGC officer retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Stan is a member of the bars of the highest courts of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court.  He lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife Jane.
